A savvy bride tells us how she saved money on her dream wedding

Here at Fund Your wedding, we absolutely love hearing stories about savvy brides who have managed to save a huge chunk of money on their big day. Our bride of the month Emma, has told us exactly how she did just that.Emma bought her stunning wedding gown from wed2be for less than £400!! She tells us that all their wedding dresses are under £500 so it’s definitely worth heading there if you’re looking to bag yourself a bargain. What’s more, she bought her bridesmaid dresses from eBay for £30 each and even blinged up her own converse which we think was a stroke of genius! She also asked her Aunty to do everyone’s make up as she had previously trained in the wedding make up industry. Her mum made all the buttonholes and confetti cones and they made all the confetti themselves using a palm punch and books that related to their theme although Emma admits, she was doing this for days!Don’t they look great? The flowers were bought from country baskets and her mum made up these stunning wedding bouquets herself using brooches that were bought for really cheap off eBay.For the wedding favours, they bought personalised m&m’s which they had a 20% discount code for and they also bought some little bags off eBay which cost 99p. All in all, the favours worked out to be around 90p per person. For the centrepieces, they suspended pictures of the table theme inside birdcages which cost hardly anything as they used a printer, some foam (which they already had) and some fishing wire. They also made their own banners for name places. Emma told us that this probably isn’t the cheapest option but for something quirky, which is what they wanted, it was cheap.Emma wanted a guestbook drop box but after seeing them for sale for £80, she made her own with a picture frame, an off cut of wood, some tester pots and some wooden hearts from eBay.Emma told us that she had her wedding cake made up North and asked her Mum to bring it down with her. By doing it this way, it saved her about £200 as she says things seem to be more expensive down south. It’s hard to believe that this stylish wedding was acheived whilst sticking to a budget. The excellent quality of all the personal touches shows you that it is possible to create your dream wedding on a budget and without compromising on the quality.

Take a look at some of the lovely photos that Emma had taken on her big day and admire as we did in a bride’s courage to have the day of her dreams without a nightmare bill.

Well done Emma and thank you for sharing your story and your excellent money saving tips with us. We at Fund Your Wedding wish you and your husband a very long and happy future together.
