18 things to do as soon as you’re engaged!

#1 Have a ‘me’ party!

This is where you have a five minute freak out because YOU’RE FINALLY ENGAGED!!!!!!!

#2 Call your family

Before you announce anything on social media, you need to let every family member know, starting with your Mum, Dad and siblings.

#3 Tell your girlfriends

Why not set up a group chat and simply send them a picture of your engagement ring. Their reactions will be priceless!

10 Things You Should Never Do At A Hen Party

#4 Get a manicure

Your engagement ring is going to be the main focus for the next couple of weeks so make sure your hands are manicured so you can really show it off.

#5 Take a photo of your ring

Take a ring selfie and upload it. Don’t forget to update your social media status too!

#6 Get your ring resized

The last thing you want to do is risk losing your ring so take it to get resized straight away.

Nail Wearing Your Engagement Ring

#7 Insure your ring

Get your ring insured whilst you’re at the jewelers. We all too often hear horror stories of lost or damaged engagement rings so make sure you take out insurance.

#8 Buy an engagement gift for your fiancé

A lot of men these day like to wear an engagement ring to symbolize that they too are engaged. However, if this is too costly or perhaps wouldn’t be appreciated, perhaps treat him to a romantic dinner for two.

#9 Round up your friends

Go and celebrate your engagement with a few drinks. You’re engaged and that deserves a toast!

10 Things To Make Wedding Planning Less Stressful

#10 Plan an engagement party

If you want one of course! It’s a good way to get all your family and friends together to celebrate the good news!

#11 Do something, just the two of you!

Amongst all the excitement, don’t forget to take some time out to relax, just the two of you! Maybe take a weekend away or book in a spa day. Do something that allows you to reconnect and reminisce on all the things you’ve done together as a couple and why you’re getting married.

#12 Take it easy

You have all the time in the world to plan your big day, don’t jump straight into it. Allow a couple of weeks to let the news sink in and enjoy that time before jumping into the planning of your big day.

Do You Have To Give Out Wedding Favors?

#13 Join Pinterest and create a wedding board

Pinterest is the go to app for all brides to be. You’ll find so much wedding inspiration for your big day, it’s a key app in helping you create the look you’ve always dreamed of.

#13 Think about dates

Talk with your fiancé and determine when you’d like to tie the knot. Don’t put yourself under too much pressure. After all, weddings can be expensive so allow time to budget for it (which leads us on to our next point!)

#14 Determine your budget

Decide how much you want to spend and break it down into categories, for example: Venue, dress,  caterers etc.

18 Things You Must Ask Your Wedding Venue Prior to Booking

#15 Invest in a good wedding planning book

Wedding planners come complete with all that’s needed to plan your big day. With so much to think about, a tool like this will make sure you have everything covered, from sending the save the dates to the final wedding checklist and every little detail in between.

#16 Pop the question to your bridesmaids

There are so many unique and fun ways to pop the question! You’ll want to make this a memorable experience as you and your bridesmaids will remember these moments for a lifetime.

#17 Book an engagement photoshoot

We recommend having an engagement photoshoot. Not only will it create beautiful and long lasting memories of this important moment in your lives but also, it gives you a chance to see how comfortable you are in front of the camera, it helps you to get to know your chosen photographer and also you’ll learn what you do and don’t like when it comes to poses.

#18 Start building a wedding website

You’ll want to completely finalize the wedding website nearer the date you’re getting married when you know all the finer details but it’s a good idea to start building it in these early stages when the engagement is so fresh in your mind. Most wedding websites include the engagement story and this would be the best time to do it. Browse templates and find what you like and then there’ll be less to do later on when you’re in the midst of planning your big day!
